US mountain guide service. Its programme page says Rainier Mountaineering, Inc. was established in 1969, calls itself the largest guide service on Mt. Rainier and Mt. McKinley, and says its guide staff numbers more than 70. It sells climbs in Washington and Alaska and a range of international climbs and treks. Mongolia is one programme, Mt. Khuiten (15 days). The booking calendar, checked on 2026-09-23, showed one departure: 31 July to 14 August 2027, guide Eric Frank, at $8,100. The itinerary overview says the team tours Ulaanbaatar during the Naadam festival, but the only listed departure starts on 31 July.

How you book

Dates are booked from the programme page's 'Find Dates' calendar. Participants must be 18 or older at registration, must already have roped glacier travel, crampon and ice-axe self-arrest experience (the page says there is no skills review on this trip), and must provide a signed physician's certificate. Rooms are double occupancy; a single supplement is charged if no same-gender roommate can be matched, and single rooms are not available in the mountains. RMI recommends about $600 to $900 in personal spending money, including a suggested $200 support-staff tip pool per climber.

A non-refundable $1,500 deposit per person secures a place, payable by MasterCard, Visa, American Express, e-check/ACH or US-bank cheque. The balance is due 120 days before the programme starts and can also be paid by wire transfer, with all bank fees paid by the sender. Registrations inside 120 days pay in full. Card payments carry a 3% surcharge. The page says RMI may change the land cost at any time before departure.

The $1,500 deposit is non-refundable and non-transferable. Cancelling 120 days or more before the start loses the deposit; cancelling less than 120 days before gives no refund. Cancellations must be in writing. Travel insurance is required. If RMI cancels for low sign-ups, weather or route conditions, it offers another date or refunds programme fees less non-refundable payments already made for land services. There are no refunds once the programme has started.
